How not to overeat

It’s normal to love delicious food. But sometimes edible pleasures become the main purpose of life, and bouts of hunger literally drive you crazy. Here’s how to stop depending on food-and keep your body in shape. Note: we’re not about diets – we’re about women’s smart tricks and a healthy lifestyle.

  1. Drink some water
Are you hungry again? Or maybe you should just drink? Often our brain mistakes dehydration for hunger. Drink some clean water. They say if you pour it into a beautiful glass, it tastes better. Personally, I can’t even drink water from a gold cup, so I add a sprig of mint or a slice of lemon to my drink.
  2. Brush your teeth.
Yes, yes, right in the middle of the day. I have four kinds of toothpaste for such occasions: chocolate and mint, strawberry, jasmine, and – my favorite – children’s, coke flavor. Even if you’re at work, you don’t care what the ladies in the restroom think. But you won’t get fat from accidentally popping a bun in your mouth. And the bonus is a white smile.
  3. Always eat breakfast.
It’s lazy to cook in the morning. But by skipping your morning meal, you risk overeating at lunch and dinner. Breakfast is energizing and boosts performance by 30%!

After taking the advice above, I got fat. Shame! It was only later that I understood what was wrong. I ate rather nourishing, but, frankly, boring empty porridge and came to work in an hour and a half after breakfast, I again snacked on something healthy. But even diet food is calories, and the daily double breakfasts reflected on my scales. Now I live differently: to “turn on” the body, immediately after waking up I drink a glass of water, and about half an hour later my little morning joy happens – a very tasty breakfast. Hunger does not attack until lunch!

  1. Stop staring at #photoedoes.
Instagram is overflowing with images of mouthwatering meals. The pictures are so bright, delicious, filtered by ten editors – making the ice cream shine even creamier and the fries already crunch in your mind. Stop! Out of sight, out of mind. Take a better look at yourself in the mirror.
  2. Cut back on fast carbs.
You can fit into your daily caloric intake, but if your diet consisted mostly of chocolates, jelly beans, flour and other fast carbohydrates – wait for trouble. Sweet provokes an insulin burst, and in 30 minutes there is a wild need to eat more. By getting used to fast sugars, the body becomes highly addicted, and no amount of willpower will help. So replace fast carbohydrates with fiber: almonds, apples, granola, carrots, grapefruit – it’s so delicious.
  3. Eat the right sweets.
Oh yes, cookies, candy bars and other insidious treats turn us into zombies. Unlike fast carbs, protein suppresses appetite and satiates for a longer period of time. Of course, munching on chicken breasts and egg whites at the computer is not a great idea. But there is a way out: you can make a variety of desserts, even ice cream, out of proteins and low-fat milk. Google it.
  4. Get warm .
You might just be cold – and your body requires calories to warm up. Dress warm and drink a cup of hot tea. You can add frozen strawberries: they have very few calories, and the flavor – mmm! And a happy ending to the tea party – a berry to munch on.
  5. Exercise
Sad? Bored? Gluttony? Sports will solve all your problems. Take up yoga or strength training, or ride a bike, or go to the gym and run on an ellipsoid (which, unlike the treadmill, is harmless for the back). During sports, there’s no time to rabidly crave for goodies or even think about food.
  6. Chew slower.
They say that you should get up from the table with a slight feeling of hunger. That’s because it takes 30 minutes after you’ve eaten. Why rush? Chew more thoroughly, feel the taste, enjoy your meal. That way, you eat less and have more fun. Ideally, you should eat every 3-4 hours in small portions, in order to maintain a feeling of fullness throughout the day.
  7. Take a shower
Chocolate mousse, fruit jelly, melon sorbet… These are not foods – but incredible beauty products with captivating flavors and delicious consistency that you can try without harming your figure. My latest find is a ginger cookie-flavored cream soap scrub. Seriously, it’s like heaven!
  8. makeup with flavor.
Non-stop spa treatments are not a pleasure for mere mortals. School, work, you know. Another thing – delicious cosmetics! Have you ever heard of LipSmacker? These products contain M&M’s, vanilla cola, and berry fanta – the dream of sweet-tooth and beauty addicts like me. I can’t promise super-care, but it feels so good! One more favorite for home use – the sugar lip scrub from Lush. Some people are lucky enough to get the New Year’s Eve edition with cherry cola and exploding caramel, but I’m happy with the bubblegum masthead, which I always eat a little bit of.
  9. Go to bed. The surest way to banish unpleasant feelings of hunger is to go to bed. If you’re lucky, you’ll dream of cake and whipped cream.
